Remote Area Power Systems (RAPS)

Remote area power systems enable you to access free energy from the sun without the ongoing running costs, noise and pollution associated with a generator.

Australsun has extensive experience in large scale remote area power systems. In fact, Australsun originated in this market some years ago, with our senior Renewable Energy Engineer, Alex Bruce designing and installing systems in the Kimberly region. Since this time we have continued to develop and install systems, engineered to Australian conditions, utilising the highest quality components available.

If your property is not currently connected to the grid then it is often more cost effective to source power from a renewable energy system such as solar power. To find out more about the rebates and incentives available for RAPS please see here.

A remote area power system is:

• Cost Effective: Solar RAPS are often a far cheaper way of supplying 24hr power than connecting to the grid. The cost of diesel to operate a generator is now at a price that a Solar RAPS can pay for itself in under six years.

• Silent & easy to maintain: Generators can be noisy and difficult to maintain. Solar power creates no noise pollution and requires very little maintenance. Generally all that is required is occasional cleaning similar to washing your windows.

• Green: While running a diesel generator or burning fossil fuels for electricity is damaging to the environment, solar electricity harnesses the natural energy of the sun to power your property.

Unlike the average solar power system a RAPS system must be carefully designed to ensure your energy requirements are accurately met throughout the year. At Australsun we provide a thorough and accurate assessment of your household energy usage, we'll also look at ways of reducing this before expertly engineering a system specifically to suit your property.
