The Renewable Remote Power Generation Program (RRPGP)
The Renewable Remote Power Generation Program (RRPGP) which provides up to a 50% rebate for the installation of renewable energy power systems used instead of fossil fuel generation in off grid areas is now closed in every state except WA.
The Renewable Remote Power Generation Program funded by the Australian Government provides financial support to increase the use of renewable energy generation in remote parts of Australia that rely on diesel and other fossil fuels for electricity supply.
Funding of up to 50% or $500,000 per application is still available in WA for solar or wind energy systems that partly or fully replace fossil fuel generation or where fossil fuel generation would have otherwise been used.
Those with properties which are not currently connected to the power grid in WA are urged to take advantage of this rebate now, as it is uncertain how long it will last in WA.
With a 50% reduction in costs and the ongoing benefit from renewable energy, Western Australians are urged to consider solar or wind power as a strategy to minimise ongoing costs associated with generators or avoid the significant cost associated with connecting to grid power from remote locations.
Rebates are available for both complete systems and for additions to existing systems.
To find out more about the requirements for the Remote Area Power Supply (RAPS) Program available in WA please see the Program Guidelines.
In states other than WA, RAPS will now be covered under the Solar Credits Scheme.
